The emotional, heartfelt lyrics take each listener on a personal journey through a variety of themes dear to David’s life. “My original music is so meaningful to me because most of it evolves from personal experiences,” said David. “Letters to Rebecca” was inspired by a poem written by her cousin, Lisa to her adopted daughter, Rebecca. “Come in from the Rain” is about being your own worst enemy, while “I’ll be the One” is about finding your soul mate. The song “Second Chance” is about not taking life for granted. “Last summer I was having such terrible back and neck problems that I had to give up performing for a while. It was during that time that I was approached by Cadillac Records with the chance to produce this CD. It was an amazing opportunity and allowed me to continue working creatively in the music industry while I was unable to perform live.” David wrote the lyrics and music for most of the original songs on her album, collaborating on a few with co-producer and husband, Richard Smith. Smith wrote the song “Restless Hearts,” and helped develop various musical arrangements. “I definitely grew as a musician on this project,” said David, adding “Richard and I worked hard on this CD for the past year and we’re very proud of what we created together. It was a labor of love.” Other principle collaborators were engineer and musician Mark Dennison and Kevin Banks who played sitar, guitar and mandolin on the CD. David has performed her music around the world since 1989 with various bands and as a solo artist. She began playing guitar in 1996 and immediately began writing her own brand of original music. David’s 1998 debut album “Scratch” was met with rave reviews, winning songwriting honors for “Games” and making it to #14 on the billboard list of Top 100 European artists for radio play. She was signed for promotion in Europe, Japan and Australia by Western Heart Promotions out of Phoenix, Arizona and received radio play around the world. She was also selected to perform as a guest musician at the Anta Majigeen N'Jaay festival in Senegal, Africa in March of 2000. Her songs “Soul to Soul” and “Take Me to Yesterday” were both featured on the soundtrack of the Canadian film “First Time Caller.”
